Give Tilly a Hand!

Hello Hello!!!

So if you have seen my recent Youtube video I have been working with the University of Sunderland and the Primary Education Fundraising Committee to raise as much money as possible for a brilliant little girl called Tilly Lockey and her charity Give Tilly a Hand.

When Tilly was 15 months old she unfortunately contracted Meningococcal Septicaemia, this deadly form of Meningitis still to this day does not have preventative immunisations. After 4 days it was thought that Tilly may not make it however, Tilly fought through and started to make some recovery. Unfortunately due to the Meningitis Tilly's hands and toes turned black and were amputated.

When Tilly was a bit older her family began to fund raise in order to get Tilly a pair of prosthetic hands. After raising a total of £24000 Tilly got her first set at the age of 3! However as Tilly grows she requires new hands (every 2 years) which can cost over the £24000. Unfortunately, when I spoke to Tilly's mother Sarah she informed me that money is drying up and fundraising is slowing to a stop!

This is where the Primary Education Fundraising Committee tried to help. They planned two fundraising events; one day time event including a cake sale, raffle etc. and one evening gig at The Cluny, Newcastle in the hope of raising as much money as possible for this worthy cause.

Thanks to the fantastic bands who volunteered their amazing talents the night was a massive success. Although timing was tight the crowd was fully entertained and so was Tilly and her Mam.

opened the night.

This was followed by a new band- The Frontiers.

Next up was

Then The Hazels
entertained the crowd.

were up next.

wowed the crowd.

And finally,
the headlining act
closed the show.

Although at times the night was stressful, it went off really well and it was agreed that Tilly's speech opened our eyes to the real reason we were all there, to help a little girl do the things she loves.

From myself and the Primary Fundraising Committee thank you to all who supported these events and this wonderful charity.
Raising an excellent total of £1,500.49!!!

If you were unable to help and donate at the two events and feel that you would like to donate money to help Tilly to continue to do the things she loves please click here to donate online.

For more photos from the night check out BestyBlog on Facebook.

Finally it is only right that Tilly thanks you herself.

Hello My First Ever Blog

Well hello there!!!

Welcome to my first ever blog writing experience!!! (bare with me!!!)
I am not too sure what to write about really and I'm not even sure if anyone will ever read this! But here we go.
I'm hoping that if you anything like me your dead nosey and are just nebbing on other peoples business.  So I best tell you a bit about myself.

Hey! I am Adam and I'm 20 and I live in South Shields (right next to Newcastle)- great start!!

I am currently a 3rd year student at the University of Sunderland on a 4 year degree training to be a primary teacher.

As you have probably seen I have made a number of Youtube videos talking about the differing things I have done and what I plan to do!

If you have read this far well done keep it up glad I haven't bored you!

So I guess I should tell you why I am writing they blogs...well... last year I was lucky enough to travel to America to work in a brilliant special needs camp- Camp Loyaltown. It was really hard to keep in touch with those at home. As I have a terrible memory I thought about keeping a bit of a diary but like most brilliant idea didn't happen.

This year I have been invited back to camp and I am so excited to be travelling back to 'my very special place!' so this year I am going to commit to writing these blogs as a way to let people who are interested (granted that may be a small few!) know what's happening. Plus it might be nice for me in the future to look back at these blogs and reminisce.

SO congratulations if you have made it to the end of this blog! do let me know if you have read it, or if I am wasting my time! And if you want to know more about me (not bank details haha its empty!!!), uni or camp drop me a comment and ill get back to you! And I you thought this blog was crap let me know what I can do to improve it and I'll try my best!

Well that's if for now!
Take care x
